After switching to old desktop, I get automatically switched back to new desktop

Some 3rd party applications misbehave in that they change the current windows desktop without user permission or interaction. This may cause an automatic switch from the old desktop to the new desktop or vice versa.

For example - you click "Switch to old desktop", Zinstall switches to old desktop, but after a few seconds, or even minutes, user gets switched back to the new desktop automatically.

Solution

  1. Determine which 3rd party application is causing the problem
    1. Check if an application from the list of known offenders is installed and running on your computer
    2. If not, try closing or killing (using task manager) the processes of all applications running on your computer until the problem stops happening.
If you found an offending 3rd party application which is not in the list of known applications, please let us know
  2. Uninstall the offending 3rd party application, or prevent it from starting on Windows start up by using the Microsoft msconfig utility
