Zinstall tray icon missing on old desktop / ZPOD

The Zinstall tray icon [?] should be available both on the new desktop / host computer and on the old desktop / ZPOD.

If it is missing on the old desktop / ZPOD follow these instructions to restore it:

  1. Switch to the old desktop
    1. Run the "Zinstall Guest Utility" from the desktop and see if the tray icon appears.
    2. If it does - that means that the problem is that the Zinstall Guest Utility was disabled from running on startup.
    3. Enable it to run on startup:
      1. Open a command prompt by going to Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command prompt
      2. Run the command: msconfig
      3. Go to the "Startup" tab
      4. Find the item named "Zinstall" and make sure the checkbox is checked.
  2. If running "Zinstall Guest Utility" manually doesn't work:
    1. Reinstall it by going to Start Menu > All Programs > Zinstall, running "Install guest utility" and following the instructions
  3. If it still doesn't work - then you need to run an upgrade install of Zinstall on your new desktop / host computer:
    1. Close Zinstall [?]
    2. On the new desktop / host computer - Run the Zinstall XP7/ZPOD Creator just like you did when you performed the migration
    3. Choose "I'm moving between two computers", "This is my new computer" ( even if you chose a different scenario while performing the migration )
    4. Choose "Upgrade or repair existing Zinstall"
    5. This will repair your Zinstall installation.
    6. Now, switch to the old desktop and the Zinstall tray icon [?] will appear as before.
